In November 2009 ‘Jeugdtherapeuten zonder grenzen vzw’ (‘Youth therapists without frontiers’; a non-profit organization) was established. TEJO is the first initiative of this non-profit organization. Under this umbrella a group of youth therapists and other expert fellow workers offer first-line ambulant therapeutic help to young people with mental problems on a voluntary basis in the Antwerp region.

The executive committee is the contact point for the volunteer and the youngster. The members of the executive committee meet weekly to strive for the smooth operation of TEJO. Priority is given to ensure that young people who get counselling at TEJO are followed-up therapeutically in the best possible way. Furthermore, the executive tries to make the working environment for the voluntary fellow worker as inviting as possible.

On a regular basis TEJO offers gripping training aimed at the function of the youth therapist. This can add to the young person’s therapeutic process and the therapist’s well-being.
